The Project initiated in 2008 is our on-going service project. It is a programme to help secondary schoolgirls during their years of their secondary school education.
Under this programme each student will receive a monthly pocket allowance to enable them to have proper meals and for transportation. Life skill programmes are conducted to help instil in the teenagers a sense of self-worth and to learn skills such as personal hygiene and financial management.
Zonta Singapore believes that education should prepare people not just to earn a living, but to live a worthwhile life where young people can grow up to become responsible contributors to society. Hence Life skill programs are conducted for the girls by skilled professionals who are members or friends of the Zonta Club who are motivated to contribute back to society.
We rely on financial support from friends of Zonta and from charitable organisations.
In 2009, donations amounting to $65,400 have been received from the Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple, the Lee Foundation and from pledges by Zonta members and friends.
Project Pari is named in honour of the late Pari Viswalingam. This project is a tribute to her dedication to education and her loyal service to Zonta Singapore.
Your donation will help promising young girls from secondary 1 to 5 who are in need of financial assistance. Project Pari is open to young girls of all races and religion. We select candidates in close collaboration with the schools based on the students’ financial background, positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Would you do your part to provide a helping hand?
You can help promising young girls to see life from a different perspective and to embrace a sense of hope for their future through Project Pari.

Project Pari - Life Skills Workshop - July 2011
We held our annual Project Pari Lifeskills Workshop on Saturday, 9 July 2011 at The Pines on Stevens Road. A total of 52 schoolgirls and 10 teachers attended the six-hour workshop. Twenty Zontians were in attendance overseeing the smooth running of the workshop.
The topics: “Communicating Effectively” facilitated by Zontian, Ida Ong, an Image Consultant.
“Champions MindSet” facilitated by Steve Huang, a volunteer from “Mind Champs” – an organization offering motivational and leadership programs for students.
“Teen and the Law” facilitated by Ms Min Lim, Lawyer and Author, who shared excerpts of her book on law and governance relevant to teenagers. NUS Law Students from its Pro Bono Group, chipped in by performing a skit on shoplifting and its consequences.
The sessions were lively and interactive and the facilitators were happy enthused by the response from the students. The take-home messages for the participants were clear and constructive, and there was positive feedback from the students.
The teachers present were happily enthused about the programs as these were not covered at ‘neighbourhood’ schools due to lack of resources. It was a very successful and satisfying day for everyone.

Project Pari - Life Lifeskills Workshop - May 2010
The 2010 Project Pari Lifeskills Workshop was held on Saturday, 22 May 2010 at the Tanglin Club. The girls were introduced to simple budgeting skills in the topic on “Financial Literacy”. This topic was conducted by Yolyn Sim, a volunteer. As there are times when the girls need to attend interviews for awards, positions in schools or to take up part time jobs, we included a talk on “ Interview Skills”. This was conducted by Rosalind Heng, a Zontian who currently sits on interview boards at the Ministry of Education to interview students for bursaries/scholarships.
For personal development, another Zontian, Ida Ong conducted sessions on “Table Etiquette” and “Grooming/Body Language”. During lunch, the girls put into practise the skills learnt from these topics. The program also included games on team building.

Tea Party - Nov 2009
About 40 girls from four Secondary schools (St Joseph, Hua Yi, Bowen, and Clementi Woods) attended the Project Pari Afternoon Tea hosted by Zonta Club of Singapore on Saturday 21 Nov 2009 at Raffles Town Club. There were ice breaker activities, group activities, impromptu skits and plays, skin care demo, plus a wonderful buffet spread of yummy food. The girls all seemed to enjoy themselves and each went home with a gift pack of Body Shop products in a recycled banner bag. Theme of the Afternoon Tea was Purple Bloom and some girls came in theme
